On 14th July Striders will be gathering for a 5 leg relay run to the Olympic Park from St Albans Westminster Lodge track where they train.

Organiser Peter Blackaller: "Back in 2012, to celebrate the Olympic Games, Striders organised our own relay to the Olympic Park, or as close as we could get to at the time. Six years on and we are organising another one, this time to coincide with the Athletics World Cup and the Anniversary Games the following weekend. We will be running the same route as the original Olympic relay, this time going all the way to the Park.

The route consists of five 7 to 8 mile legs, running roughly south from St Albans mostly off road, following some of Hertfordshire and North London’s long-distance paths, until we reach Primrose Hill where we join the Grand Union Canal and follow this to the Olympic Park."

It promises to be a great day out for members and friends of the club ahead of two weekends of great athletics at the Olympic Stadium!
