It was a quieter week for St Albans Striders, but there were a few runners who amassed the miles at various events around the world.

Jack Brooks travelled to the Caribbean to participate in the Aruba marathon.   Despite the heat and wind, he completed the race in 4.52, his 454th marathon to date!

Closer to home but still battling the heat, Stephen Elkan and Richard Olney fought their way up hills and through shoulder height crops at the Stour Valley Trail Marathon, finishing in 5.08.

In Kent, Clair Drage ran her first double marathon over the weekend, the Viking Coastal marathon in 4.32, and the Dambusters Challenge in 5.10.

At the Wimbledon Common 10k, Graham Smith crossed the line in 5th place in a time of 39.44.

On Saturday many Striders participated at a number of parkruns around the country.  At St Albans, husband and wife Matt and Heather Hann were first male and female runner to cross the line, only the second time this has happened. Gladstone Thompson completed his 100th parkrun, while Wendy Walsh achieved a seasons best and was first FV45 in 20.03.  At Ellenbrook Fields, Fleur Harvey was 3rd female and first FV45 in 21.48.
