Muddy good fun coming up this Autumn with cross country racing, a road trip and our Annual Dinner!

It's hard to believe it's October already, and the spikes are about to come out again. The summer weather may have been up and down, but for the club the sun shone the whole way through.

We celebrated success at the Midweek Road Race League taking home the league trophy for the sixth year running, and winning the mob match, also for the sixth year running.

It was great to be able to run with St Albans AC on the track and see them finish top in the Southern Athletics League, with a promotion into Division 2 next year.

And we had our biggest entries to date for the Summer Solstice 10K and the St Albans Stampede, both of which received rave reviews from those who took part. You can read all about what happened at the Stampede in the excellent race reportThanks to Ben Scott and Amy Heap who have hung up their Race Director bibs for this race, but are already well into planning for Fred Hughes in 2018.

Meanwhile, congratulations to Jack Brooks who was a joint winner in the 'Service to Sport' category at the recent St Albans & District Sports Awards. As a member of the club for nearly 25 years, he's put so much back so it's great to see him get this recognition. He has helped and encouraged so many runners over the years, as well as notching up more than 400 marathons! He "really set the gold standard for the club" as another of our members put it. So well done Jack, thoroughly deserved! Striders as a whole were also recognised at the awards, coming runners up in the Community Club category.

So here’s looking forward to the rest of the year, the conclusion of the Club Champs, the Annual Dinner and a great cross country season ahead.
