Fred Hughes 10 Mile Race 2020

St Albans Striders hosted another successful Fred Hughes 10 Mile Race at the weekend, with a record-breaking turnout of 917 finishers, and a number of members achieving personal bests to boot.

The top 3 men were Alex Bampton of Highgate Harriers in 52:36, Matt Kitching of Queens Park Harriers in 52:45, followed by Paul Adams of St Albans Striders in 3rd place with 54:18 (pictured).

The top 3 women were Hannah Oldroyd of Ribble Valley Harriers in 1:01:37, Johanna Sharples of Leighton Buzzard Athletic Club in 1:03:11, and Rachel Doherty of Higham Harriers AC in 1:03:16 (pictured).

St Albans Striders men were both 1st and 2nd County Champs teams, with Paul Adams, Jonathan Scott, Chris Wrighton and Oliver Knight in the ‘A’ team, and Tony Brady-Locke, Nick Pattison, Graham Smith and Matt Holman in the county ‘B’ team. St Albans Striders women were 2nd team in the Herts County Champs also, with Kathryn Penfold, Karen Sheard and Nicky Laitner scoring for the club.

Striders who achieved personal bests in the race included Stu Middleton 1:05:19, Andrew Page 1:08:11, James Harrison 1:13:41, Jonny White 1:13:50, Nicky Laitner 1:14:08, Matt Bedford 1:20:48, Kate Tettmar 1:22:21, Peter Blessing 1:22:38, Veronica Bodell 1:27:38, Rachel Aldridge 1:28:21, Denise Tinant 1:33:07, and Jenna Pickering 1:38:09.
