Cross Country Leagues

All members can compete for free in 3 cross country leagues, the Sunday League, the Met League & the Chiltern League. We also compete in 3 championships, Herts, Southern Counties and the National. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.  to get signed up, all you need is a club vest, and you don't have to be fast.

 

All standards of runners take part, and you can run in the auspicious company of people such as Dave Bedford's son (Tom) and Ronnie "The Pocket Rocket" O'Sullivan! Cross country is a great way to improve your running with uneven terrain helping core strength and stability, fits and starts of speed, a bountiful supply of mud and another opportunity to wear your Striders vest with pride! What more could you possible want!?

 

Details of each race will be posted on the messageboard a week or so before the race.

Distances for the Sunday and Met Leagues are approx. 5 miles for men and 3.5 for ladies. The championships are as follows,

 

  • Herts County Cross Country:  7.5 miles for men, 5 miles for women
  • Southern Counties Cross Country: 15km for men, 8 or 10k for women
  • National Cross Country:  Varies: 10k - 12km for men  8-10k for women
