Sunday Drinks @ The Snug

On Sunday we have one of the first club champs races of the year in Watford. We have lots of Striders running so we've organised drinks on the Sunday night at The Snug, 1 French Row, St Albans from 6.30 onwards.

As always everyone welcome if you run the race or not!

Marathon Training Workshop

Has the Olympic year 2012 inspired you to take part in your first marathon?

Or have you run marathons before but feel there is room for improvement?

If so then come along to the St Albans Striders Marathon Training workshop at the King Harry pub, 7th Feb 8:30-9:30pm where you will have an opportunity to hear Coach Mike Jubb talk about what it takes to complete the 26.2 mile marathon distance. There will be lots of useful information to guide you through marathon training and hopefully help you reach your maximum potential on race day.
This workshop will primarily be aimed at first time marathoners, especially those currently in training for spring marathons, but experienced runners who want to gain additional advice are also welcomed. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions and get advice from the other club coaches and share training tips with fellow striders.

Parking is limited at the King Harry pub but the landlord has advised us that we can use the church car park opposite albeit at owner’s risk.

For those who would like to eat at the King Harry, food is served until 9:30pm.

Southern XC Champs

The Striders travelled to sunny Brighton yesterday to compete in the South of England cross country champs. On a challenging and hilly course, the women's team just missed out on the medals to finish in a fantastic fourth place.

The men's team was depleted by the unusually long race distance of 15k and predicted parking problems at the venue (thanks to a football match) but our three representatives did well in a large field of 745 runners. Bring on the National XC!
