        The London Marathon usually attracts large numbers of Striders every year. Full details can be obtained on the London Marathon Web-Site. Applications open in August, and close in October of the year before you wish to run. The majority of people enter through the ballot, although there are also charity places available, and places are available for people gaining good for age times over a marathon. If you are training for the Flora London Marathon, you can use the official route planner for your training runs.

        If you fail to get in, there are club places available. These are drawn out of the hat during the Boxing Day social, at The Plough. To be eligible, you have to have been a member for at least twelve months, you must of been unsuccessful in the London Marathon draw, and you have to have not won a club place in the previous three years. If you meet these criteria, and want to be entered, send your rejection slip to the club secretary and you'll be entered. The Mince Pie Run takes place on 26th December 2005 at 11:00 from The Plough, Tyttenhanger Green, Tytenhanger, St Albans, AL4 0RW. It is a run for all abilities, followed by mince pies and the draw for club places in the Lonbdon Marathon.

        There are normally a big social events around the London Marathon. In the evening of the London Marathon, we all meet up at The Plough, Tyttenhanger Green, St Albans, AL4 0RW to recount events of the day. On the morning of the marathon, a bus is arranged to take runners down to the start of the race.
