Achievement
The Outstanding Performance is awarded to runners who has performed particularly well in a race for the club, not necessarily winning but as measured against his/her own standards e.g. getting a PB. The aim is to recognise achievement throughout the club.
Annual Club Awards 2009
Most Improved Female
Nominees: Becky Alexander, Katie Chilton and Sheryl Norman.

Achievements:
In recognition of two sub-2 hour half marathons in Watford and Reading; strong marathon performances.
Most Improved Male
Nominees: Tom Crouch, John Hope, Andy Jordan and Blake Vivian.

In recognition of his progress as a runner in the past 12 months
Female Athlete of the Year
Nominees: Gill Jubb, Zoe Lowe, Deborah Steer, Liz Walls and Anna Ward.

Achievements:
In recognition of her inspirational commitment to the Striders and excellent running performances, particularly in the cross-country, while bravely fighting her own health battles in the background.
Male Athlete of the Year
Nominees: Paul Adams, Ed Blake, John Jones and Sam Pullan

Achievements:
Consistently strong race performances over the year, PB and County silver medal at Standalone 10k; impressive 3000m times on track; 2.40 marathon.
Strider of the Year
Nominees: Lizzie Barber, Colin Braybrook, Jack Brooks, Mike, Gill and Antonia Jubb, Sara Parkinson, Roger Murray and Hallam Smallpeice.
Winner: Jack Brooks
Achievements:
In recognition of the frankly incredible feat of running 200 marathons, including one in every US state, while remaining a highly enthusiastic and involved Strider and contributing a great deal to the Club over recent years.

- Jack Brooks for completing 200 marathons... yes that's not a typo, two hundred.
- Amanda Oliver for completing the Marathon Des Sables (151 miles thorugh the Sahara over 6 days)

- Gladstone Thompson & Katie Chilton - Well done for P.B.'s at the Reading Half Marathon with 1:48 and 1:52 respectively.

The nominations for the 2009 Annual Club Awards are now open. The awards will be presented by the Club Committee at the Annual Dinner on November 14th.
The spirit of these awards is to recognise club contribution and achievement at all levels of running - from a top-performing runner to the beginner or slower runner who has shown great improvement or growth throughout the year.

Made a huge contribution to our Mid Week Road Race team results with consistently fast scoring times. PB’s at all distances in 2008 including:
- 10KM 40.58 at the Herts 10K
- 10M 1.09 at the Lincolnshire Wolds Race
- HM 1.31 at Stevenage
Most Improved Male
Nominees: Blake Vivian and Ed Blake

Achievements:
Raced and scored in every Mid Week Road Race team Significant PB’s at 10K, HM and Marathon.

Female Athlete of the Year

Achievements:
This award goes to someone who has achieved PB’s 10KM and Half Marathon distances, excelled in the Mid Week Road Race League, was the top female Strider in the English National XC championships, as well as the County XC championships and represented Hertfordshire in the Inter Counties. She was also the first female Strider in all the Met League XC, the Fairlands Valley Relays and the Verulamium Relays. Her road racing PBs were
- 10K 39.26 at the Royston 10K
- HM 1.29 in her 1st half marathon
Male Athlete of the Year
Nominees: Vince Williams, Blake Vivian, Paul Adams and Ed Blake
Winner: Blake Vivian
Achievements:
PB’s at all distances and made a fantastic contribution to the team results in the Mid Week Road Race League, racing all four events and finishing 4th overall in the series. His PB’s this year are:
- 10K 34.20 at Royston 10K
- HM 1.15 at Stevenage
- M 2.58 in his first attempt at the marathon (Paris)
Strider of the Year
Nominees: Mike Jubb, Paul Adams, Brendan McKeown, Harold Lowe and Jim Miller
Winner: Harold Lowe
This year the award goes to someone who volunteers his time to act as a Sweeper for every race event that we put on. For his many years of service to the club, the Strider of The Year Award went to Harold Lowe.
October 2008
- Ed Blake - Well done for going sub 1hr 15 at the Bristol Half, a PB which gets him qualification for the London Marathon championship race.
April 2008
- Paul Adams - Special mention for being part of a 12-man team to run a record-breaking 495.7 miles on a treadmill in 48 hours; then warming down by running the London Marathon.
- Katy Webster, Deborah Steer, Liz Mckie - Special mention for being 2nd ladies team in the London Marathon
February 2008
- Jonathon Scott - Special mention for his performances in the cross country races, throughout the season.
