About Us
Whether you are already an experienced runner or just taking up the sport, perhaps having been inspired by events such as the London Marathon, your local road and cross country running club welcomes you.
The Club was set up in 1984 to cater for people interested in road running and cross country including those with no particular experience of, or aptitude for running. Many of the founder members are still with the Club which now has around 300 members.
Membership of the club is open to runners aged 16 or over, of all abilities. Members also benefit from saving the £2 levy for any UK Athletics race event. The club organizes 2 local race events, the Fred Hughes 10 in January and the St Albans 10k event in May and participates in 3 local club leagues to which all emebers get free entry, the Mid Week Road Race League (Summer) and 2 cross country leagues (Winter).
If you want to come along to a session to meet us and see if you would like to join, you are more than welcome! The Club meets for training sessions three times weekly at the Westminster Lodge Athletics Track - see the Training page for more info.
